If attending group classes at big studios feels daunting or unsupportive for any reason, private sessions can be the perfect pathway to build up your confidence to one day attend group classes. Perhaps you’ve tried a group session and although it resonated with you, group classes are just not the most supportive option for you right now and you’re after a more nurturing, safe environment.
Perhaps you already attend group classes which you enjoy however are missing individual guidance in these classes and want to specifically address the anxiety or high stress you feel. If you experience any kind of anxiety, whether mild and occasional or high intensity and chronic, the practice of yoga can be a powerful tool to assist you in better managing the anxiety you experience and find moments of true lasting reliefe
In these specific Yoga for Anxiety private sessions I will guide you through different yogic practices that can support and reduce the impact of anxiety.
These practices include physical yoga movements and poses, breathing techniques, meditation and mindfulness practice, philosophy, or any other relevant yogic practice. Information and education about anxiety and the nervous system from a Western psychology approach can also be provided.
These sessions normally start with a brief discussion on what are would like to practice or gain from the session, a grounding mindfulness practice to check-in with how you are feeling that day then a 45 to 60 minute movement practice that I will guide you through. The session can finish with relaxation, meditation or breathing techniques, or a discussion around how to practice yoga safely in the community or in your own home.
Research has shown yoga can help:
-Reduce stress, anxiety, & depression
-Improve mood
-Improve sleep

These sessions will help you experience the true power of yoga and feel empowered, calm, and confident.
You will learn practical ways to reduce and overcome anxiety, stress, and tension.
You will learn yogic practices that will be invaluable tools in assisting you with your mental and physical health in a holistic way.
These sessions are guided by you and so each session might be different as you will guide the process of what you feel will be most helpful for you on the day. Safety and choice are two crucial elements that I will do everything possible to ensure occur for you.
Not all yoga is helpful for anxiety; at times yoga can aggravate anxiety and increase stress in the body. There are very specific ways of practicing yoga and certain yogic practices that target the symptoms of anxiety and the elevated parts of the nervous system that can truly be supportive and integrative.
I have undertaken extensive training and undergoes ongoing mentoring to ensure I am offering you the most suitable practices for anxiety. In saying this, anxiety is different for each person and part of the process is working together to test and try what works for you.
You may only want one or two sessions to create a foundation for your practice, or you may come fortnightly or monthly to compliment your yoga practice in other settings. We can design and create a home practice for you if you would like, to further support your practice in-between the Yoga for Anxiety sessions.
